Mudras are used mostly in meditation, to direct the flow of energy within the body by using only hands.

Yogis claim there are different areas of our hands are connected with different areas of our body and brain. So, by doing these moves we can stimulate different areas of the brain and create energy for the entire body.

Mudras are called “producers of joy” because they can give you the perfect harmony and peace you need. They are very easy to do and don’t need any equipment except a relaxing place.

We will show you how to do the mudras:

1.Gyan Mudra
 (Mudra of Knowledge)

Instructions:

This is the most used mudra in yoga. Sit on the floor in a lotus position. Bring the tips of the thumb and index finger together and place your hand on the knees with your palms upwards. Keep the other three fingers together and stretched.

Benefits :

This mudra relaxes your mind, increases concentration and creativity, treats insomnia, reduces depression and manages stress.

2.Prana Mudra (Mudra of Life )

Instructions:

Prana is one of the most important mudras because it activates dormant energy in your body. It will help awaken and enliven your personal life and makes you a cheerful person. Touch your ring finger and your little fingers with your thumb. Keep the other two fingers stretched.

Benefits :

This mudra energizes your body, prevents tiredness, strengthens the immune system, and treat eye issues.

3. Vayu Mudra (Mudra of Air)

Instructions:

It is a bit different from Gyan mudra. Press the index finger with the base of the thumb. Stretch the other three fingers.

Benefits :

Vayu mudra is good for abdominal discomfort, gas-related pain, flatulence, bloating, joint pain and treat constipation.

4.Shoonya Mudra (Mudra of Emptiness)

Instructions:

Shoonya mudra is performed by touching the tip of the middle finger to the thumb base. Keep the other three fingers relaxed.

Benefits :

This gesture purifies your emotions and thoughts, improves intuition and alertness, and is beneficial in the case tongue, nose, and ear issues.

5.Surya Mudra (Mudra of Fire)

Instructions:

Surya mudra is linked to the fire element in your body. Bend your ring finger to the base of your thumb where your thumb touches the ring finger’s knuckle. Stretch the other three fingers. Do this mudra in the morning on an empty stomach for best effects.

Benefits :

This pose increases core body temperature, strengthen the immune system, and improve the metabolism.

6.Rudra Mudra (Mundra of air + water)

Instructions:

This mudra applies to your internal transformative abilities. Connect your thumb to your index and ring fingers and keep the other two fingers as straight as you can.

Benefits:

It improves clarity, dizziness, exhaustion, chronic tension, and concentration of thought. It will energize your body and empower you to reach your goals.

7.Apana Mudra (Mudra of fire + water)

Instructions:

Bring the second and third fingers to your thumb. Rest the two other fingers just slightly behind the tip of the thumb.
