Officer Goes To Donut Shop On Wedding Day- He Sees Something Terrible While Waiting And Jumps Into Action

John O’Rourke will never ever forget this day. Not only because it was his wedding day, but because on that same day, he did something stunning. He saved someone’s life.

John had been at Donuts To Go, the best donut shop in the Orlando area (according to the Indiana University Police Department) the day of his wedding.

As he was in line, he noticed a commotion around an unconscious 3-year-old girl. Apparently, she had just had a seizure.

O’Rourke got a bystander to call 911 so that he would be able to speak with the dispatcher. He then began to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and chest compressions on the identified child.

As paramedics arrived on the scene, she finally regained consciousness.

“It had to be a donut shop. You can’t make this up,” said O’Rourke, who normally patrols the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

With the girl in the care of medical professions, the shop staff gave O’Rourke a free box of donuts to express their gratitude. They couldn’t believe that they just saw this man save her life.

Later, he joined his bride, Virginia, in saying their vows in front of friends and family. Many of which were from the Florida Highway Patrol, saying that O’Rourke has a habit of being “at the right place at the right (or wrong) time.”

We are just so thankful that he saved this little girls life, and that she is doing well. He is a true hero!
